Curriculum Vitae

Frederick Michels is staflid orthopedie in AZ Groeninge sinds 2008. Hij is gespecialiseerd in voet- en enkelchirurgie. Binnen deze subspecialisatie legt hij zich in het bijzonder toe op minimaal invasieve technieken, percutane technieken, voorvoetaandoeningen en ligamentaire letsels van de enkel. Daarnaast, is hij ook gespecialiseerd in traumatologie in het algemeen en traumatologie van voet en enkel in het bijzonder.

Hij doet ook wetenschappelijk onderzoek in samenwerking met de KULAK en de MIFAS by GRECMIP. De voornaamste researchprojecten zijn enkelinstabiliteit en minimaal invasieve technieken in de voetchirurgie.

Hij behaalde een doctoraatstitel aan de KU Leuven met zijn onderzoek over enkelinstabiliteit. Hij wordt vaak als spreker gevraagd op nationale en internationale congressen. Hij is instructeur bij verschillende wetenschappelijke verenigingen (MIFAS, EFAS, BFAS, AO, OTC).
