Curriculum Vitae
Dr. Frederick Michels werd geboren op 1 december 1976 te Kortrijk. Hij behaalde zijn diploma geneeskunde in 2001 aan de KU Leuven.
Hij beëindigde zijn specialisatie orthopedie in 2007 en behaalde daarnaast het diploma Master in de sportgeneeskunde.
Daarna verbleef hij één jaar in de Clinique du Sport te Bordeaux Mérignac voor verdere volmaking in de kniearthroscopie, minimaal invasieve voetchirurgie en sportchirurgie in het algemeen. Tijdens deze periode behaalde hij het Diplôme Inter-Universitaire d’Arthroscopie te Parijs.
Nadien verbleef hij in het UPMC te Pittsburgh voor verdere specialisatie in de kruisbandchirurgie. Hij is auteur van meerdere publicaties over nieuwe arthroscopische technieken.
Verder is hij reeds meerdere jaren als ploegarts verbonden aan de Koninklijke Belgische Voetbalbond.
Sinds 1 oktober 2008 werkt Frederick Michels in de dienst orthopedie van AZ Groeninge. Hij legt zich vooral toe op de chirurgie van knie, voet, enkel en sportletsels.
